Self Development should be part your own programme. this can be formal education, to short course, to gain skills and thought processes.
You can join groups, like here, or bigger places where they just do that , train and develop. Read books, online course, and mixing with the right people, and learn of their experiences, and plenty of research.
One should not always leave up to the companies themselves, but companies should encourage people to development themselves, and if they have in their budgets to put courses and training programmes on. Investing in your work force, you have a better run business, and a happy work force, from the floor to board level.
How would you go about training and development where you come from Michael?
